Almerija Delic is, in the finest sense of the word, a singer of our time. Her warm, dark-hued voice brims with passion and is always deeply rooted in the character she portrays. Voice and acting merge seamlessly into an ideal unity, sustained by a singular stage presence that commands the space and causes everything around her to recede into the background—regardless of the role she embodies.

Her repertoire includes roles such as Amneris (Aida), Eboli (Don Carlos), Azucena (Il trovatore), Kundry (Parsifal), Ortrud (Lohengrin), Fricka (Die Walküre), Marie (Wozzeck), Judith (Bluebeard’s Castle), Carmen (Carmen), Preziosilla (La forza del destino), Adalgisa (Norma), Dalila (Samson et Dalila), Tereza (Innocence), Countess Geschwitz (Lulu), Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Kate (Owen Wingrave) and Klementia (Sancta Susanna).

 

Following engagements at the Staatstheater Mainz, Theater Osnabrück and Theater Dortmund, Almerija Delic joined the ensemble of the Staatstheater Nürnberg for the 2018/2019 season. Guest appearances have since taken the mezzo-soprano to, among others, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Aalto Theater Essen, the Semperoper Dresden, Oper Leipzig, Staatstheater Kassel, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Staatstheater Meiningen, Luzerner Theater, Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, Theater Heidelberg and Theater Magdeburg.

She has also appeared at the Schwetzinger Festspiele in Re:igen by Bernhard Lang, at the Eutin Festival, as Countess Geschwitz (Lulu) at Stadttheater Gießen, as Ottavia (L’incoronazione di Poppea) at the Ars & Musica Antiqua Festival.Further engagements have taken her to the NOW Festival of the Philharmonie Essen, Zeche Zollverein, the Mercatorhalle Duisburg, the Rheinsberg Chamber Opera and the Ludwigsburg Festival.

A particular artistic focus of her work lies in contemporary music. Among the composers with whom she has collaborated are Sidney Corbett, Karlheinz Essl, Gordon Kampe, Peter Kiefer, HK Gruber, Bernhard Lang, Marius Felix Lange, Dirk Reith, Gerald Resch, Wolfgang Rihm, Salvatore Sciarrino, Günter Steinke and Karlheinz Stockhausen.

 

A field to which she also devotes herself through numerous exceptionally conceived song programs. In addition, Almerija Delic develops versatile recital evenings featuring thematically innovative concepts.

The work of Gustav Mahler hold a special place in her song recitals.

 

She has been the recipient of several scholarships, including those awarded by Forum Tiberius, Villa Musica, the Richard Wagner Foundation and the Walter Kaminsky Foundation.

She has attended numerous masterclasses, among others with Marjana Lipovšek, Thomas Hampson, Christa Ludwig, David L. Jones, Dunja Vejzović and Kurt Widmer.
